About Hala Omar, MD

Hala Omar, MD, grew up in a large, tight-knit family and considers herself fortunate to have joined the St. Catherine Hospital family and the wonderful community of Garden City. She finds joy in detecting and diagnosing disease, ridding a patient of cancer, alleviating pain, and fixing painful issues like hernias. She believes that the patient and physician must work together to formulate the best treatment plan and that every patient encounter should be holistic, serene, and comfortable.

With academic distinction, Dr. Omar obtained her undergraduate and medical degree from Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar and a Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Fellowship from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine/Hartford Hospital. She completed her General Surgery Residency at the New York Presbyterian Hospital in Queens, where she was also the Chief Resident in General Surgery. She is fluent in Arabic.

Dr. Omar strives to provide the fastest recovery and is passionate about treating a long list of diseases and disorders.

Fostering dogs and cats, hiking, camping, and playing video games are some of the activities Dr. Omar does when she isn't in the clinic or surgery.

Ratings

Ratings are calculated via patient surveys collected from the Medical Practice survey from Press Ganey using the Mean score for each of the four questions shown below. Star scores are determined by dividing the mean score by 20 so a 100% Mean score divided into 5ths results in a 5 star rating.
