(GARDEN CITY, KAN.) As the weather gets chillier outside, St. Catherine Hospital associates are once again ready to warm some bellies and show off their cooking skills at the hospital’s 21st annual soup contest.
In what has become an October tradition, this year’s contest is set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, October 25, in Classrooms A and B at St. Catherine Hospital, 401 E. Spruce St. For $5, hospital associates and members of the community can enjoy a sampling of this year’s soup entries, a bottled water and a dessert. Proceeds will go to the Leave a Legacy Foundation. The hospital’s Mission in Action Committee sponsors the event.
A panel of local celebrity judges will select the winning entry, which will receive a $250 cash prize, as well as the coveted “golden ladle.” This year’s panel includes Q97/Z98 FM Production/Program Director Michael Anthony, Dr. Zeferino Arroyo, MD, Western Kansas Community Foundation Executive Director Conny Bogaard, Garden City Mayor Dan Fankhauser and Coldwell Banker The Real Estate Shoppe real estate agent Jeana Anliker.
Guests’ pick for fan favorite soup will win $200, and the fan favorite decorated table will win $100.
