(LONGMONT, COLO.) Longmont United Hospital is pleased to announce Dr. Ahmad Alqaqaa “Dr. Q”, Interventional Cardiology, as 2021’s Physician of the Year. Each year, Longmont United Hospital selects a nominated physician with one year or more of active privileges who is exemplary in the Centura Health values of Compassion, Respect, Integrity, Spirituality, Stewardship, Imagination and/or Excellence. Nominees are voted on by the Medical Executive Committee, and this year, Dr. Alqaqaa was selected as this recipient for his leading-edge work in cardiology and kind and compassionate care for his patients.
“Longmont United Hospital is proud to have Dr. Alqaqaa as one of our cardiology physicians and pleased to award him with the Physician of the Year Award,” said Dr. Tony Pearson, Chief Medical Officer of Longmont United Hospital. “Dr. Alqaqaa demonstrates all of the values we hold dear at Centura Health and is an example to us all each day.”
Dr. Alqaqaa is passionate about the ever-advancing field of cardiology and performed the first shock wave treatment at Longmont United Hospital in November. This state-of-the-art technology shocks blockages to the heart prior to stenting which lowers the risk of artery tear or having a residual blockage after stenting. Dr. Alqaqaa is committed to providing Longmont United patients with the best and most comprehensive cardiovascular care possible while also serving with excellent bedside manner for patients and their families.
“Dr. Alqaqaa is an amazing diagnostician and provides cutting-edge cardiology care to our community,” said Dr. Adam Rush, Emergency Physician and Medical Staff President at Longmont United Hospital. “I can attest to his professionalism, collegial attitude, and integrity. It doesn't matter if I'm calling at noon or 2:00 am, Dr. Alqaqaa is always ready to provide excellent cardiology care.”
