(COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.) Centura Health, the region’s largest health care leader is ready to welcome, treat and care for oncology patients at the new St. Francis Hospital Cancer Center. The new center is part of the Centura Health Cancer Network, which is one of the few cancer networks in the country and the only one in Colorado accredited by both the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, and the National Accreditation Program for Breast Cancers.
The new 28,000-square-feet, state-of-the-art facility is the first comprehensive outpatient cancer in the state. Meaning patients will visit all their doctors, specialists, and therapists at one place. The center will house a breast care center, the center for women’s imaging, radiation oncology and gynecologic oncology services. All these services in one place means better and more streamlined care for cancer patients in the community.
“Centura strives to meet patients where they are. It became clear that with the rapid growth in the eastern part of the city, we had to expand the excellent cancer care provided at Penrose Cancer Center,” said Eric Koval, oncology director for Penrose-St. Francis Health Services. “Also included under the single roof is Genetic Counseling, Research Nurses, Social Work, Dietary, and Physical Therapy.”
Brian Erling, MD, CEO of Penrose-St. Francis Health Services said this center is a major milestone in Centura’s commitment to whole person care and the Colorado Springs community.
