Physical therapy is often appropriate for a myriad of injuries and conditions. Examples include pain with movement, limitations in function such as walking or balance, and activities of daily living such as getting dressed, showering, and cleaning. However, if you are not sure reach out to our teams and we can discuss your options. We do require a physician prescription to initiate treatment which can be obtained through your primary care or specialist.
Benefits of therapy include enhanced recovery from injury, optimization of lifestyle activities following surgery or injury, improved quality of life, independence, increased strength and flexibility, and returning to a prior level of function or better.
Our physical therapists have advanced training and skills to appropriately assist you in your recovery. Many of our therapists are Master’s or Doctorate trained and are licensed in the state of Colorado. Conditions they treat include:
- Orthopedic and sports medicine
- Neurological conditions including stroke, and Parkinson's Disease
- Oncology rehabilitation
- Women’s and Men’s Health
- Vestibular & Balance conditions
- Lymphedema
Physical therapists utilize a variety of treatment techniques and modalities that are tailored to your individual needs. Typically, this includes a combination of hands on (manual therapy), functional education and training, and therapeutic exercise. Other treatments that compliment these interventions include neuromuscular re-education, dry needling, ultrasound, and other modalities. Your physical therapist will customize a program for you based on the plan and goals developed during your evaluation.
Manual therapy consists of hands on treatment to assist and facilitate with patient recovery and healing. Included in manual therapy treatment are joint and soft tissue mobilization which are targeted to alleviate restrictions and promote healing.
Dry needling incorporates the insertion of thin filiform needles into the skin to target myofascial trigger points, muscular tissue and connective tissue as an intervention to address a patient’s restrictions associated with musculoskeletal or neurologic injury. Therapists providing this intervention have specific training and are certified.
Vestibular therapy focuses on treatment of conditions that cause dizziness, vertigo, and balance issues. These can arise from various disorders such as inner ear issues, brain injury, stroke, or Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). Our therapists are specially trained to evaluate and treat individuals with vestibular and balance disorders.
Strength and flexibility are often at the heart of musculoskeletal injuries and are therefore critical to the recovery and healing process. Our highly skilled therapists work with our patients to understand how best to integrate a tailored strength and flexibility program to your individual needs.
Aquatic therapy is often an excellent way to enhance recover. The healing properties of aquatic therapy include a gravity eliminated environment that results in improved movement compared to land based movement, resistance for strengthening, and compression from hydrostatic pressure which can help to improve swelling
Oncology rehabilitation specialists focus on optimizing recovery from cancer treatment that includes strengthening, range of motion, endurance, balance, and lymphedema treatments. Our oncology therapists are dedicated to developing a customized program for our patients that tailors to their unique needs.
