At the St. Catherine Hospital - Dodge City Birth Center in southwestern Kansas, we believe in giving our patients and their families the personal care and attention they deserve. We have 10 large, private rooms specially designed to help support the labor and delivery process as well as recovery and post-partum care all in the same room that has all the added comforts of home.

Pre-admission program

Our pre-admission program is designed to make your hospital admission relaxed and worry free. A pre-admission appointment gives you the opportunity to talk with an experienced Birth Center nurse, share your birth preferences and ask questions about your upcoming birth experience. It's ideal to make your pre-admission appointment when you are approximately 31 weeks pregnant. Birth Center tours are not included during your appointment. 

What to bring to your appointment:

  1. Insurance card
  2. Your questions
  3. Complete pre-admission form 
  • Breastfeeding clinic
  • Childbirth classes
  • Level II neonatal intensive care unit with private suites for babies
  • New equipment and furniture, including peanut birthing balls and beds
  • Secured, single entrance and an infant security system
  • Two triage areas, eliminating the need for patients to go to the ER
  • Well-baby nursery with a private, adjoining room for the mother

Perinatal Education from St. Catherine Hospital - Dodge City
Flexible Birthing Classes Offered Monthly

Through a partnership with Birthly, the Family Birth Center now offers its patients free access to a variety of virtual perinatal education classes. Classes offered include Early Pregnancy Preparations, Prenatal Education Bootcamp (English and Spanish), Coping and Comfort, Breastfeeding 101, as well as Newborn Care. All classes are live, so patients have the opportunity to learn from and interact with certified and experienced childbirth educators.

Each class is offered multiple times per month, so you have the flexibility to schedule a class that fits your schedule.

Visitor Policy

Family members and visitors are welcome to visit new moms and babies between 7:00 am and 9:00 am and between 4:00 - 10:00 pm. Quiet hours from 9:00 am - 11:00 am and 2:00 - 4:00 pm are times for new parents to bond with their babies and to rest. We feel it is important for our patients and their families to get their rest for optimal healing.

When you visit the Birth Center you will see a number of video cameras throughout the department. These cameras monitor the entire unit. All exits have alarms that are activated if someone exits the building. We want our new parents to feel secure that their baby is safe.
