Mercy Hospital was founded by a congregation of Catholic sisters in 1882, and their calling to care for the poor and vulnerable—especially women and children—inspires our mission as a Catholic health and health care provider. For more than 140 years, we have been providing compassionate whole person care to our patients, our neighbors, and our communities.
Mercy is responsible for conducting itself in a manner consistent with the ethical principles of the Catholic church ministry. The values and beliefs of this Christian faith guides our organizational behaviors, actions and decisions. As we occasionally do, we recently completed reeducation with our Community Board, clinical leaders, caregivers, and the Mercy Ethics Committee on the application of the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services.
Annually, we compassionately care for more than 57,000 patients in the Four Corners Region, and we will continue to meet the needs of those we serve by supporting their whole health – mind, body and spirit – and offering health and well-being programs, services and resources, including women’s health services. Patients are fully informed of all treatment options, including those we do not perform, and when we don't offer a desired service, our providers work with patients to connect them with another provider.
