Penrose, St. Anthony North and St. Anthony Summit among best in nation at serving their patients and communities, according to Lown Institute
(COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.) June 25, 2024 – CommonSpirit Health is proud to announce that three of its hospitals earned an “A” grade on the 2024-25 Lown Institute Hospitals Index. Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, St. Anthony North Hospital in Westminster and St. Anthony Summit Hospital in Frisco achieved this grade through strong performance across metrics of health equity, patient outcomes, and value of care, out of more than 3,500 hospitals nationwide.
- Penrose Hospital ranked 17 out of 44 acute care hospitals in Colorado. According to the Index, the hospital also performed well on Lown’s Value of Care and Patient Outcomes metrics.
- St. Anthony North Hospital ranked 4 out of 44 acute care hospitals in Colorado. The hospital also performed well on Lown’s Health Equity category and and Patient Outcomes metrics.
- St. Anthony Summit Hospital ranked 2 out of 44 acute care hospitals in Colorado. It also received honor roll designation for earning “A” grades in all three categories: Health Equity, Value of Care and Patient Outcomes.

The Lown Hospitals Index for Social Responsibility is the only ranking to combine metrics of health equity and value of care alongside patient outcomes, for more than 2,700 acute care and 800 critical access hospitals nationwide - offering a holistic view of hospitals as total community partners. In the fifth annual rankings, the 2024-25 Lown Index evaluates hospitals on over 50 measures including novel metrics such as community benefit, racial inclusivity, and avoidance of overuse.
