About Michael Janssen, DO
Michael Janssen, DO, is passionate about getting people back to the activities they enjoy and improving their mobility and quality of life. He takes time to listen to patients, get to know them and learn what want to accomplish. He offers patients options to help them decide on their treatment. His goal is to use the least invasive procedure possible to maximize the patient's results. Dr. Janssen treats degenerative disc disease, osteoarthritis, spinal stenosis, foraminal stenosis, herniated disc, scoliosis/spinal deformity and spinal fractures. He performs total disc replacement surgery, degenerative disc surgery, disc arthroplasty, laminectomy, microdiscectomy and neck surgery, among other surgical procedures.
Dr. Janssen completed his Bachelor of Science degree at University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. He continued his medical education, earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Janssen completed his internship in general surgery at the Trauma Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia, and his residency at Orthopedic Surgery Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. He completed two spine fellowships: an AO ASIF Fellowship, Klinik for Orthopaedic Chirurgie Kantonsspital, St. Gallen, Switzerland; and another fellowship with Lakewood Orthopedic Clinic, Lakewood, Colorado. Dr. Janssen is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and American Board of Spine Surgeons and is Level II certified by the Division of Workers’ Compensation.
Dr. Janssen enjoys snowmobiling, motorcycling, scuba diving, powerboat racing and playing golf.
