About Philip York, MD
Dr. Philip York is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of spinal disorders. A Colorado native, Dr. York moved to California for college and then on to the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine where he graduated from medical school.
Dr. York then returned to the Centennial State for his medical residency at the University of Colorado. From there, he completed a specialized fellowship program in spine surgery at the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.
Dr. York’s clinical and research interests include treatment of cervical deformity, pediatric scoliosis, adult spinal deformity, proximal junctional kyphosis, radiculopathy, myelopathy, and degenerative conditions of the spine. He specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery, which allows patients a faster recovery time.
During his career, Dr. York has been involved in several research studies and has published over 28 journal articles on spine conditions and treatments. He also provides care to local veterans at the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center.
Dr. York understands that no two patients are the same, which is why he firmly believes in a team mentality when it comes to a patient’s spine condition. “Your specific goals and expectations are important, and I believe that nonsurgical options in the treatment of neck or back pain are important and effective. However, when it comes to surgery, I enjoy discussing the surgical options including traditional and minimally invasive methods depending on individualized factors. My desire is for my patients to be actively involved in their spine health and to work closely in achieving their goals.”
When Dr. York is not in clinic, he enjoys spending time with his wife, two daughters and son. He loves all the outdoor access we have in our beautiful state.
