The hardworking dedication of the associates at our great hospital since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic brings us optimism and hope. Walking in the footsteps of the Sisters of Mercy, whose legacy was rooted in making a difference despite considerable challenge, our associates have taken on more than ever before. Thus, the Mercy Health Foundation is honored to share appreciation for our caregivers who have lifted us all, who have soldiered on, and have provided an inspiring level of whole person health care in our rural region.

Caregiver appreciation this year was made possible through our partnership with hundreds of donors. Care came in the form of countless gifts in-kind, including but not limited to new, unread books, CLIF bars, Girl Scout cookies, popcorn, hair products and most astoundingly-- over $80,000 of in-kind personal protective equipment (PPE). Mercy Health Foundation was also able to assist associates in financial crisis or facing emergencies due to COVID because of cash contributions from fellow colleagues and donors. If there was a need, Mercy Health Foundation worked hard to find a way to help, and we’ve supported our own family of associates with over 13,500 in requests this past year.

The Mercy Health Foundation, in conjunction with Mercy’s Garden Terrace Café, also worked with the Feed the Frontlines Program. Feed the Frontlines supports our local restaurant economy at the same time by distributing meals to associates, and we are privileged to be part of the collaboration. Further donations from our community provided $1,800 in restaurant gift certificates for associates, which were given out to our colleagues by Interim CEO, Mike Murphy.

Lastly, during the holiday season we packaged hot chocolate, coffee and gift cards for every single associate working at Mercy in partnership with Mercy’s Senior Leadership Team. Our associates are always in our thoughts, and we thank them for creating new memories for us, memories of what perseverance and resilience can do in this world.
