Once you have submitted your online application, you will get an email confirming that your information was received. We evaluate each candidate’s educational background and work experience based on specific position requirements.
If qualified, you can expect a preliminary phone interview from a recruiter. If your application does not meet the job requirements, a notification will be from our system that the qualifications did not meet the role requirements. Following the phone interview, you may be selected for an in-person interview with the hiring manager.
In-person interview: If selected to move forward, you’ll be scheduled to meet with a hiring manager. CommonSpirit Health uses behavioral-based interviewing techniques to understand how you handled/performed in past employment-related situations. Behavioral-based interviews generally ask for examples about your experience with regards to goal-setting, creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, decision-making, prioritizing, accomplishments, opportunities to improve, managing stress, etc.
To help you prepare, reflect on (and write down your key thoughts about) examples of situations and work experiences you can speak to during the in-person interview. A variety of general interview resources can be found online (keyword search: “behavioral interviews” or “job interview tips”).
Reference checks: When being considered for a position, expect to provide the names and information of four (4) contacts for the online reference check. Please prepare your reference list (ensuring accurate email addresses) in advance since the employment application will include a reference section for you to enter their contact information.
These could include supervisors, co-workers, charity volunteer coordinators/participants, teachers/professors, coaches, pastors, team members and any others who can attest to your experience, skills and/or character. You’ll want to let your contacts know in advance to look for an email request from our reference checking partner (Skill Survey) to encourage timely response.
Job offer & pre-employment process: If selected, CommonSpirit Health will extend a contingent employment offer to you. Details about your compensation and benefits will also be shared. For general information about our compensation practices and benefits, please refer to our Pay, Benefits and Total Well-being section. Employees who receive an offer will be required to undergo a background check, pre-employment physical screening and drug test. The pre-employment physical determines if the candidate meets the physical requirements of the position. In most cases the physical will require bending, lifting, stretching, etc. If the physical requirements are not met, accommodations may be made in certain situations depending on the role.
Note: Waiting for your background results to clear before taking steps to terminate work with a current employer is advised.
