About
Our sports medicine clinic in Lakewood is uniquely designed with Colorado’s athletes and weekend warriors in mind. This elite sports center is led by physicians board certified in sports medicine and primary care. Our goal is to get each patient to the highest level of activity possible — whether that means returning to a three-mile, daily jog or training for the Hardrock Hundred Mile Endurance Run.
Our Services
Sports medicine is all we do, that makes our clinic rare in Colorado and allows us to focus on advanced treatments. Our singular focus is on rehabilitating recreational, student and professional athletes with an emphasis on nonsurgical care. We specialize in all aspects of medicine as it relates to the athlete, sports participation and musculoskeletal injuries. In addition to injury care, our fellowship-trained sports medicine physicians provide care for sport-related medical conditions such as exercise-induced asthma, concussions and digestive issues.
Targeted Treatments
CommonSpirit Primary Care & Sports Medicine St. Anthony performs all joint and tendon injections using ultrasound guidance. Ultrasound is an imaging technology that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce dynamic images of the body. Studies show that ultrasound guided injections improve the accuracy of the treatment and are less painful. The accuracy rate for blind injections (injections performed without imaging) is as low as 30 percent. With ultrasound, the accuracy of joint injections is nearly 100 percent.
Lactate Threshold & VO2 Max Testing
Athletes put a lot of time, commitment and sweat into their sport but there’s also science. The best athletes know how to use science to their advantage. Our doctors work with competitive athletes to help them maximize their training and performance. We offer Lactate Threshold and VO2 Max testing to help athletes determine the highest intensity at which they can perform and sustain their efforts without hitting a wall.
