About Emillia Lloyd, MD
Emillia Lloyd, MD, is a full-time provider at Southern Colorado Family Medicine and enjoys her role in teaching future family medicine physicians, whom she hopes will enjoy their roles in medicine as passionately as she does. She loves many aspects of primary care and teaching but is most passionate about procedures like colonoscopies, colposcopies, LEEPS, intra-articular injections and skin procedures. Dr. Lloyd also enjoys inpatient and outpatient medicine, obstetrics and sports medicine.
Originally from Los Gatos, CA, Dr. Lloyd received her bachelor’s degree in biology with minors in business and education from Texas A&M and her medical degree from Drexel College School of Medicine in Philadelphia. She then completed three years of a joint civilian and Air Force family medicine residency program training in Illinois. After her third year, when Dr. Lloyd was scheduling chief resident, she remained at the program as an attending physician. During her four years as an attending, she gained a passion for teaching family medicine residents and served her active-duty Air Force commitment, spending six months deployed to Ali Al Salem in Kuwait. Dr. Lloyd also published a cover article in the American Family Physician journal on burns and started a grant-funded double-blind research project.
Dr. Lloyd has been with the Southern Colorado Family Medicine residency program since 2013 and became program director in 2015 for both the core and rural programs. She enjoys the challenges of running a residency program and clinic, along with the faculty, leadership, problem-solving and teaching daily.
Dr. Lloyd’s day-to-day life outside of work is all about being with her family. She also enjoys outdoor activities, including water skiing, surfing, wakeboarding, running, biking, kayaking, hiking, volleyball, snowboarding, basketball and swimming.
