About Katarina Nelson, MD
Katarina Nelson, MD, is impassioned to treat everyone as family while ensuring that every patient receives the best up to date health care possible. Dr. Nelson treats patients with coronary artery disease, women and heart disease, heart disease prevention, hyperlipidemia, congestive heart failure, and valvular heart disease. In her practice, Dr. Nelson performs TEE, cardioversion, exercise treadmill stress imaging, nuclear stress imaging, echocardiography, calcium scoring, coronary CTA, and cardiac MRI procedures
Dr. Nelson attended medical school at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic and then completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Dr. Nelson then continued her studies with a Cardiovascular Fellowship at the University of Miami Hospital/ Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL and an Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging Fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard University in Boston, MA. Dr. Nelson is Board Certified in Cardiology and in Internal Medicine (ABIM), Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (CBCCT), Nuclear Cardiology (CBNC), Echocardiography (ASE), and Vascular Ultrasound (ARDMS).
Dr. Nelson enjoys spending time with her family, skiing, running, hiking, and travelling.
