About Angela Bohnen, MD
Angela Bohnen, MD, specializes in neurological and spine surgery and completed fellowship training in neuro-oncology (specialized treatments for cancer of the brain, skull base, and spine) at Mayo Clinic. She specializes in treating primary brain tumors including gliomas, meningiomas and pituitary tumors, as well as skull base and metastatic brain tumors. Her clinical expertise is in awake craniotomies and brain mapping for eloquent tumors. Dr. Bohnen strives to provide the best care to her patients based on each individual’s needs and believes that compassion is a catalyst for healing. Dr. Bohnen values education beyond our borders. While at Northwestern University, she helped pioneer a rotation in Rome, Italy, to develop collaborative relationships with international colleagues. Additionally, Dr. Bohnen believes in global education to provide local sustainable patient care. She has participated in several medical mission trips abroad and plans to continue pursuing this passion when not caring for her own patients here in Denver.
Dr. Bohnen attended medical school at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, Louisville, Kentucky. She completed her residency at Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, Illinois.
During her travels, Dr. Bohnen enjoys learning about the culture of other countries and has summitted several mountains including Mt. Kilimanjaro. With only about 10% of neurosurgeons being women, Dr. Bohnen enjoys mentoring younger women, encouraging them to pursue their passions.
