About David Hamilton, MD
David Hamilton, MD, FACS, serves as Director of Trauma at Penrose Hospital, specializing in general surgery, trauma surgery and surgical critical care. With a deep passion for the care of the injured trauma patient, Dr. Hamilton is committed to providing comprehensive personal care for every person he serves. Dr. Hamilton values the patient-physician relationship and understands the importance of each patient having a voice when it comes to developing the treatment plan. He believes in working closely with the patient and the referring doctor in a cooperative fashion to facilitate quality care through a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach.
Dr. Hamilton is an expert in laparoscopic and minimally-invasive surgery, surgery of the GI tract (gall bladder, small bowel, colon and stomach) and endocrine surgery (thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal gland). He is fluent in Spanish and graduated from the of University of Texas Medical School at Houston where he earned his medical degree, completed residency training in general surgery and a fellowship program in trauma and critical care.
When not treating patients, Dr. Hamilton enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, outdoor recreation, music and sports.
