About Francis Buzad, MD
Francis Buzad, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon with over 20 years of experience. During childhood, Dr. Buzad sustained penetrating abdominal trauma from a shrapnel injury in his homeland of Lebanon. He credits the skill of a general surgeon with saving his life and inspiring his passion for serving others through general surgery. Because of this experience, Dr. Buzad practices with a unique combination of technologically advanced skills and personal patient involvement. He finds that his personal experiences add a dimension of empathy and caring that are a critical element to the overall wellbeing of the patient.
Dr. Buzad has a focus in minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques, having been one of the first general surgeons to adopt robotics into his practice 2008. His interests include surgery of the Gl tract (colorectal, small bowel, stomach, gallbladder), foregut (gastroesophageal reflux, hiatal hernia, achalasia), hernia (inguinal, incisional, umbilical), endocrine (adrenal, thyroid, parathyroid), and breast surgery. Dr. Buzad also treats hand conditions including carpal tunnel, trigger fingers, and soft tissue lesions.
After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Scranton, Dr. Buzad earned his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh. He then underwent general surgery training at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Dr. Buzad also completed additional fellowship training in hand and microvascular surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University. Prior to his move to Denver, Dr. Buzad practiced extensively in Austin, Texas.
Dr. Buzad finds balance with his professional commitments by spending time with his wife and three children. He enjoys outdoor sports including skiing, running, wakeboarding and mountain climbing. He is also a martial arts enthusiast and an avid reader.
