About Gregory Carlson, MD
Dr. Greg Carlson is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and trauma at CommonSpirit Summit Orthopedics. He earned his B.A. in Chemistry and Biomedical Studies from St. Olaf College, his medical degree from the University of Minnesota, and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University. He further honed his skills with a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at Twin Cities Orthopedics, with a special focus on complex sports knee injuries.
Dr. Carlson is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM). He also is a member of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Physician Pool, and he holds the position of Chair of Surgical Services at St. Anthony Summit Hospital.
Dr. Carlson prioritizes building strong relationships with his patients to understand their individual goals. After a thorough evaluation, including physical examination and imaging, he collaborates with patients to discuss all treatment options — both surgical and non-surgical — to determine the best course of action. He emphasizes clear communication, comprehensive explanations, and a team-based, multidisciplinary approach to deliver exceptional orthopedic care in Summit County.
Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Carlson enjoys hockey, skiing (downhill and cross-country), hiking, camping, traveling, reading, and cooking. Most important, he values spending time with his family.
