About Laura Trujillo, MD
Laura Trujillo, MD was born and raised in Texas. She pursued her undergraduate degree in Biology at Columbia University in New York City, where she also worked as an EMT. She earned her medical degree at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN prior to returning to Texas to complete her General Surgery Residency at Baylor College of Medicine, a level 1 trauma center in Houston. She was inducted into the Gold Humanism Society during her time there for building caring and collaborative relationships with her patients. She also acted as administrative chief resident in her final year coordinating and allocating trainee resources across the Texas Medical Center Hospitals.
Dr. Trujillo was also recipient of the McCollum Academic Achievement Award in her final year of general surgery training, an annual award for the best in-service exam score in the entire department of general surgery. She completed her Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon.
Dr. Trujillo dedicates herself to caring for the most critically ill and complex general surgical and trauma patients. She is passionate about providing excellent, empathetic, and patient-centered care to both patients and their families, particularly through times of emergency and distress. She also strives to promote teamwork and a collaborative approach to patient care amongst all levels of staff and providers to achieve the best outcome possible for the patient.
When not working, Dr. Trujillo enjoys gardening, running, hiking and cooking.
