About Paul Harkins, MD

Paul Harkins, MD, believes in the importance of establishing a trustworthy patient-provider relationship. He empowers all his patients by treating them with respect and using his knowledge and insights to guide treatment plans to the best outcomes.

Dr. Harkins earned his medical degree at the University of Utah. He completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in anesthesiology at Baptist Medical Center through a program based at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. Afterwards, Dr. Harkins completed a fellowship program in pain medicine at the Carolinas Pain Institute.

Dr. Harkins specializes in treating a variety of pain concerns throughout the body including back pain (cervical, thoracic and lumbar), phantom limb pain, cancer related pain and knee pain. He also focuses on treating a variety of neuralgia, neuropathies and syndromes, including trigeminal neuralgia, occipital neuralgia, peripheral neuropathy, diabetic neuropathy, post laminectomy syndromes and complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS).

He also performs various procedures including application of nerve blocks, epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency ablation and nerve stimulation.

When not treating patients, Dr. Harkins enjoys hiking, flyfishing, playing lacrosse and enjoying time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
