About Roland Baiza, MD
Roland Baiza was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. Due to his upbringing in a Hispanic community, he is fluent in both English and Spanish.
Dr. Baiza knew he wanted to practice medicine when he was only 10 years old. Pursuing this dream, he became a first generation college student upon attending The University of Incarnate Word (1986) on a full basketball scholarship, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1990.
Dr. Baiza continued his education at Texas A&M Medical School (1994) and graduated as an Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society lifetime member prior to becoming an assistant professor at Texas A&M Health Science Center (1998-2002). Dr. Baiza was also the APGO-Texas Med School Teacher of the Year in 2002.
Making the move from Texas to Colorado in 2002, he joined Academy Women’s Healthcare Associates. Dr. Baiza believes it is an honor and a blessing from the Lord to care for those in both the English and Spanish-speaking communities.
By seeing the trust that is placed in him by his patients throughout monumental moments such as pregnancies, childbirth, menopause, and gynecological surgeries; Dr. Baiza understands the importance of caring for women during some of the most special and challenging times of their lives.
He wants every patient to feel assured that they are being carefully listened to and given the best care available. The most common remark Dr. Baiza hears is, “I’ve never seen a male gynecologist before.” His answer has always been this: “I believe that what patients are seeking in a physician is empathy, compassion, and exceptional medical care. These characteristics are not unique to a certain gender, but rather to a certain physician.”
Dr. Baiza is most proud of his marriage to his wife, Raquel, and of his two children, Reagan – a social worker in Texas – and Lauren, who currently attends university in Boston.
His primary interests are Bible study, laughing and dining with friends and family, and sports of all kinds – especially basketball, football, skiing, and fly fishing. He attends Grace Bible Church, serves as an elder, and actively participates in the teaching ministry.
