Residents in the track participate in specialized psychiatry educational experiences including interactive lecture, case conference and mentorship with a psychiatrist.
Residents in this track choose elective time geared toward preparation for hospitalist medicine. These rotations include additional ICU time, anesthesia/airway, inpatient oncology and elective time with the hospitalist team at St. Anthony North. A hospitalist mentor will be chosen to guide and advise residents through the last half of residency training.
The track meets quarterly for an afternoon to discuss inpatient topics and new evidence, and it is led by our hospitalist physician.
Residents in the track gain access to the University of Arizona web-based integrative medicine curriculum. The curriculum is completed longitudinally through the residency program. Residents schedule longitudinal elective time to cover the curriculum through residency training. The residents in this track meet for a full day once a year to cover special content and enhance learning.
Residents also have the opportunity to participate in a acupuncture track with our licensed acupuncturist. This track meets monthly to discuss various acupuncture techniques.
Residents will choose normal OB experience (4 months), low OB (3 months) or high OB (added elective OB month) for their residency training. Residents in the normal/high tracks may participate in the c-section track. The track meets about monthly to cover best practices, do surgical procedure workshops, participate in ACOG and special OB meetings. The c-section track residents can come in for additional c-section experience during in their senior years, duty hours permitting.
The OMT track is for osteopathic and allopathic students who qualify to continue pursuing their osteopathic interests. Members of the OMT track are scheduled for OMT only clinics, participate in quarterly OMT track meetings, can focus their scholarly activity on an osteopathic focused topic, and help with OMT teaching during didacts. Residents who complete the OMT track are eligible to take the American Osteopathic Board of Family Medicine board exam if they so choose.
Residents in the track participate in specialized sports medicine training sessions each year, cover football and other high school team sports, participate in “bumps and bruises” clinics and other specific designated activities for the track. Residents select a sports medicine topic for their scholarly project under the guidance of our sports medicine director.
