About Loretta Nastoupil, MD
Loretta Nastoupil, MD, is an oncologist who is board certified in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology. Joining the Mercy Hospital team from MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, Dr. Nastoupil has extensive experience in research, teaching, and patient care. She is excited to use her expertise to provide oncology and hematology care for patients in the Four Corners region.
Dr. Nastoupil earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas. She went on to complete medical school at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, followed by a clinical residency at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, and a clinical fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. Dr. Nastoupil served as an associate professor of medicine for more than 10 years, has published an extensive list of peer-reviewed articles, and is a member of several relevant professional organizations.
Born and raised in Hatch, New Mexico, Dr. Nastoupil is happy to return to the outdoor lifestyle of Durango and the Four Corners region. She has teenage twin daughters with her husband, to whom she has been married for over 20 years. When she is not working, you can find her on a hiking trail, downhill skiing, paddleboarding, or fishing.
